Christmas – The Invisible made Visible

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (Col 1:15 ESV)

One of my favorite things to do when I stay with my sister in Shiloh, Georgia is sit on her porch and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. Before anyone wakes, I rock in the chair on her porch and just breathe. On this particular cold morning, the crisp, Southern Georgia air courses through my nose and lungs. When I exhale, I can see my breath as it clouds the space in front of me in an evanescent cloud. I take in another deep breath and this time blew even harder. The fleeting cloud of breath appears again, this time with more urgency and movement. Each breath, each inhale and exhale, displays the sureness of the invisible life, made visible by the chill of the air.

God used this small moment to visualize to me the purpose of this season we call Christmas. Just as my breath became visible in the cold winter air, God Himself became visible in Jesus Christ in the right season. The invisible God manifested himself in the form of His Son Jesus Christ and the Word Became flesh and dwelled among us.

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law (Gal 4:4 ESV).

But that’s just the beginning of His wonderful gift. The best part of this visual display of the invisible God in His son was that He would soon deliver us from the domain of darkness and transfers us to the kingdom of his beloved Son (Col 1:13 ESV)!

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

(Col 1:21-23 ESV)

Hallelujah!!!!!

Merry Christmas and God Bless
