On our flight back from China, my wife Annie snapped this photo, marveling at the boundless beauty she had just captured. “Oh how beautiful!” she gushed. We sat there for a few minutes reflecting with awe at God’s beautiful creation, amazed at the enormity of His love for us.

Enjoying God’s creation in the simplicity of the plane ride was a simple reminder of what it’s like to have unending trust in God. We board an enormous aircraft, trusting the pilots’ ability to get us safely to our destination. We trust in this so much that we sleep, watch movies, eat, and drink, without much regard to the fact that we’re many many miles above the ground. Even in the midst of turbulence, we continue to trust the pilots to complete the flight. We ride the bumps, eyes closed and fully confident in his or her ability to steer and guide the plane.

In our wonderful walk with God, we are called to walk by faith, completely reliant on His sovereign will. We are called to trust that God will get us to our final destination, home with Him! It is not His will that we go through life by way of our own efforts, He wants us to continue to trust Him no matter what, through the beginning, middle, and end. We certainly may experience some turbulence along the way but we can rest, we can enjoy, we can watch movies, eat, and drink knowing that He has everything under control!

I implore you to hold fast to the trust you have in God and not in your own strength or the strength of this world! Things may be hard, but there will never be a time when you don’t need to trust God for your every breath and every step. Know that His plan to conform us to the image of Christ is perfect. Close your eyes and enjoy the ride!

We concentrate not on what is seen but on what is not seen, since things seen are temporary, but things not seen are eternal. ( 2 Cor. 4:18& for we live by trust, not by what we see. ( 2 Cor. 5:7 )
