Why New Creation517?
The name New Creation came from my very first sermon that I preached in 1996. The message was titled New Creation and the main verse that I used to teach was 2 Corinthians 5:17. God gave me this verse and it has always been my go-to verse to remind me of who I am in Christ. In the late 90’s I sought to try to register New Creation and I tried my hand at building my first website, but it was not God’s timing. Nothing ever came of it, but it was always there in my heart.
In 2017, while serving as a full-time missionary to the Navajo people, an opportunity arose for me to create my own 501(c)3 ministry. After more than 15 years, New Creation was no-longer available, so I decided to add 517 to the end of Creation because of the verse, 2 Corinthians 5:17. The name will always serve as a reminder that I along with everyone else who is in Jesus is a New Creation.
Don’t Allow the lie to become truth…. But allow The Truth to be Light
I added this phrase to my ministry motto while I was visiting and teaching on the Navajo Reservation some time ago. Somewhere in my sermon to the youth, I said this phrase to them. I was encouraging them to take God at his word and allow Jesus to be their light instead of believing the lies they hear in life from Satan. When I was done speaking, one of the young girls came up to me and asked me to repeat the phrase. She was so gripped and encouraged by the words that she wrote it down.
So often, we as believers hear so many lies regarding who we are that we forget that we are a New Creation in Christ Jesus. The old life in Adam, along with the lies from Satan are gone! Our new life in Christ with a new past, the cross, and a new future, heaven, has come in Christ Jesus.
It was from that interaction with the young girl that this phrase became part of my teaching. So, when the time came for me to create New Creation 517, ““Don’t Allow the Lie to Be Truth but Allow the Truth to Be Light,” became the main tagline for the ministry.
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12 NASB)
